Statement on West Midlands Mayoral and PCC merger

Today, the West Midlands Mayor Andy Street has written to the Home Secretary requesting to begin the merger of the Mayoral and PCC office.

Below is my statement:

“This is a necessary public interest decision from Andy Street to Get Crime Down. The PCC model has simply failed in the West Midlands over the past decade to tackle high crime (up 113% over that period). It’s time all the regions policy levers are put into action to tackle crime and criminality.”
