It’s been a poignant week of reflection and commemoration for VE Day 80.
Starting with a special Commonwealth War Graves Commission concert at Coventry Cathedral, hosted byStrictly’s Amy Dowden and featuring our Torch For Peace, seen here with the excellent Megan Maltby.
It was a tremendous honour to join our Commonwealth War Graves Foundation Chair, Dame Judith Mayhew Jonas DBE, in leading the 2-minutes silence as we remembered all from Britain and across the Commonwealth who fought and died for our freedoms 80 years ago.
Then to London for more, work duties permitting! Seeing the Cenotaph draped with 🇬🇧 was superb. As was the joyous and friendly atmosphere, a small sense of what it must have been like when WW2 in Europe came to an end.
And the VE80 Concert was wonderfully produced, and the veterans stories brought mixed emotions. But much joy and celebration too, and flag waving! The Kings speech was brilliant and inspiring.
Rounding the week off with more of my duties as an Armed Forces Champion. But if you’d like to support the work of the CWGF please visit: https://foundation.cwgc.org
We ensure that the memories of those who served and died are remembered, forevermore.
