“Have a fearless attitude to adversity”. My message to Handsworth Grammar School as I returned, 24 years on, as guest speaker for the annual prize giving ceremony.
Wandering the halls of my old school brought back many memories of my time here.
The values and ethos of HGS and Handsworth, my endz, have always been deep within me, spurring me on to work hard, represent and dare to achieve in places you wouldn’t expect of an inner-city son from a less-privileged background.
To share this with pupils was a privilege, to inspire others to achieve great deeds an honour.
Thank you, Handsworth Grammar, for making me who I am today.
